  1. Cases like these always make me think of the eternal human “free-will v determinism” debate. I used to believe for years that humans had a least a scintilla of free-will, but the older I get, the more I read and experience, the more I’m coming round to the rather more disturbing conclusion that human beings quite very possibly have zero free-will. Of course, the implications of this are enormous, not least for our criminal justice systems, for if we have no free-will, Letby (and others like her) cannot be held responsible for their obviously heinous crimes.
