Huh? Italian authorities approved a ban on cruise ships entering the historic centre of Venice in 2021. Venice actually led the way here.

@tastypymp1287 Amsterdam remains the least safe city in the Netherlands. This is meaningless in this debate given that the Netherlands hovers around the no.20 mark in most of the lists of the world’s safest countries. Thing is, Tasty, you have an agenda and you’re determined to promote it, bolster it, feed it. I’ve deduced that you’re right-wing, anti-immigration and probably want to retain some kind of “white ethnic purity” in the British populace (I could be wrong on all 3 counts here but don’t think I am), so when you quote me selective stuff to fit your preordained agenda, I just don’t buy it. I tend to look at the data in the round. So, I repeat: the Netherlands is a top 20 safe country (more or less), so saying Amsterdam is the most dangerous city in the Netherlands, in that context, loses its power. Now, don’t get me wrong, I have an agenda too (we all have an agenda), but I have very little time for the extremes in any debate, and you strike me as particularly far to one side (and therefore, in my eyes, unbalanced) in all these debates. Global warming; immigration; crime etc.

@@user-er1fp9ez6y According to ‘WorldData’ in 2017, the Netherlands had 17.92 million international tourists; in 2018, 18.78 million; in 2019, 20.13 million; in 2020 7.27 million (Covid year). The vast majority of these tourists also visit Amsterdam. Just saying.

Trouble is, John, that this idea has been, as per usual, hijacked by the political right and the left and as with global warming, never the twain shall meet. As a liberal centrist, the 15-minute city is nothing more than what humans have been doing since we lived together in clusters of houses. Ever heard of villages? I have no intrinsic problem with the idea in theory; in practice, if my wider freedom to move is in any way curtailed, like you, my hackles will be raised.
