I once had a brilliant general science teacher at school and by way of introducing the topic would write the following joke on the blackboard and we’d spend the next hour deconstructing what each line of the joke meant scientifically. The joke was: History's great scientists were invited to a party. Here are their responses. Isaac Newton: "I'll drop in." Socrates: "I'll think about it." Georg Ohm: "I'm resisting the idea." Robert Boyle: "I'm under too much pressure." Charles Darwin: "I'll wait to see what evolves." Pierre and Marie Curie: "We're radiating enthusiasm." Alessandro Volta: "I'm electrified at the prospect." Ivan Pavlov: "I'm positively drooling at the thought." Andre-Marie Ampere: "I'm worried I'm not current enough." Species may share similar physical features because the feature was present in a common ancestor (homologous structures). Molecular biology. DNA and the genetic code reflect the shared ancestry of life. DNA comparisons can show how related species are. Biogeography. The global distribution of organisms and the unique features of island species reflect evolution and geological change. Fossils. Fossils document the existence of now-extinct past species that are related to present-day species. Direct observation. We can directly observe small-scale evolution in organisms with short lifecycles (e.g., pesticide-resistant insects).

  14.  @Romello_Pietersz  I would add that for you, a believer in Jesus Christ, for whom there is little historical evidence, beyond the self-contradictory gospels, and one or two jejune, unreliable mentions in the Judeao-Roman chronicles, it’s a bit hypocritical parading your double-standards, as you seek scientific evidence for something like evolution, but you don’t and can’t apply those same rigorous standards to your religious beliefs. As far as I can see, the Jesus believers believe in someone who actually, more than likely, never historically existed.
