Of course, unnecessary premature death is always tragic and I sympathise with these souls here. I’m pro legal immigration and obviously pro helping out genuine asylum seekers. But we have borders in this world, for better or worse, and surely every country, every country has the right to determine exactly who and who it does not admit. In the same way that every home-owner has a right to decide who to let into their house, Europe has this same right. As far as I can tell, most of these young men are simply economic migrants, and unless they have specific skills they can contribute to the economy or unless they are bona fide genuine refugees fleeing life-threatening war/persecution, a strong message should be sent out that the doors will be locked when they arrive at Europe’s house.

@itzsleazy6903 Did you read my OP or are you just ranting? Again, for your benefit: “I’m pro legal immigration and obviously pro helping out genuine asylum seekers”. If you can prove you can offer a country some economic benefit and/or are fleeing genuine persecution, you are welcome. Don’t make me out to be something I’m not. Almost everyone I know more or less shares this opinion. It’s not controversial.

@mohamedbenhamida5652 What is so difficult about this? Every sovereign country should have the final say as to whom and whom they do not admit. It’s not controversial. Every country more or less operates this way, anyway. Why are you suggesting the UK/Europe should be any different?

@mohamedbenhamida5652 Btw, interesting that you openly admit that “personally I find all immigration necessarily negative for the host country”. I don’t. I find most immigration positive for the host country. All I am asking is that the host country has the authority here; not the migrant. In the same way that I have the authority as to whom to admit into my own home; not the person who wants to come in.
