As per usual with these things, this whole conflict boils down to the human tribal mentality linked to race/ethnicity (Palestinian v Jew - notwithstanding that both groups are Semitic in that they speak a Semitic language), organised religion (Islam v Judaism) and language (Arabic v Hebrew). 2 of these aforementioned (ethnicity/language - mother tongue) are given to us by accidents of birth; the other (religion) we kind of choose but, that said, the overwhelming majority of those who follow an organised religion follow the one which predominates in the culture in which they are born and raised, so this could be argued to be an accident of birth, too. So, essentially, we commit internecine conflict predicated on 3 accidents of birth. It seems human beings cannot cope with too much difference.
