  1. It’s not just an English thing. I live in Edinburgh on a street which has a whole block set aside for the elderly and opposite a care home for the elderly. Every day I pass care workers going to and fro and in several years I quite literally have not seen a white face doing the job of being a carer. Invariably they are black African or Far East Asian/Indian. The reason? For natives in the UK (not just England) a care job is generally seen as a whole lotta work for very little minimum wage reward. Also, the benefits system in the UK is rather generous and encourages a certain laziness.
