@nosmallfeat311 You’re missing the point. An increasingly substantial proportion of Europeans are fed up with mass immigration. Period. The ‘uncontrolled’ bit is actually irrelevant here. It’s the importation (controlled and uncontrolled) of very large numbers of immigrants they don’t like. The ‘legality’ or ‘documented-status’ of these migrants is neither here nor there for these people.

Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria were all in the top 5 making your statement about the largest amount of French immigrants being from the EU utter poppycock!

Just for the record, you can be against mass immigration at the current levels and not be a fascist. I’ve never voted for a right of centre political party in my life, so slandering me like that will get us nowhere in this debate and only makes you look rather silly.

@hendrixinfinity3992 I’m pro-legal immigration, just not at the levels Western Europe has been experiencing it year on year these past few decades. I’m also particularly wary of the mass importation of those with Islamic beliefs, quite simply as it seems wherever they go, trouble tends to be caused as Islam rubs up against antithetical cultures. It always amazes me how western, liberal, democratic Europe seems so keen on the mass importation of those with a credo wholly at odds with liberal democracy. It will surely only end in problems as critical masses of Islamic people are reached in given countries. We are already seeing unrest bubbling. As I said above, by 2050 Sweden will be 30% Muslim. The vote for NR in France was just a clear sign from 33% of the electorate that they’re not happy with the levels of immigration, but particularly mass Muslim immigration.

@hendrixinfinity3992 I agree that the levels are too high, but in principle I’m pro strictly targeted legal immigration. Too much of it currently is random low-skilled individuals. We have them already. We don’t need to import them en masse.

@sam-jj4fm Was just making the point in my OP that the reason for the lurch to the right in Europe is continued mass immigration. Now, I’ve repeatedly said here I’m pro controlled legal immigration. I have 2 main issues: the numbers (685,000 in the UK is agreed upon by parties left, right and centre to be too high); and Islam. Importing hundreds of millions of those with a credo diametrically opposed to western liberal democracy is surely a recipe for disaster in the future.

@shoelessjoe428 Another big part of this is a strong antipathy towards the religion of many (most?) of these immigrants: Islam. Islam is dangerous in liberal secular societies because its values are inherently opposed to secular liberal democratic societies and if it sees any chance to impose itself, it will. There are some very interesting times ahead for Europe given that, for example, Sweden is predicted to be fully 30% Islamic in 2 decades.

@Macias78ful Er, and how does that negate the fact millions of ordinary Europeans are sick of mass immigration? I’ll give you a recent personal example: I was on holiday in Provence recently. I visited the gorgeous old perfume town of Grasse. Every single resident I saw was an Arab. It felt like Tangiers or Algiers. It certainly didn’t feel like France. If I want to visit an Arab town I go to Africa or Asia; Europe shouldn’t be creating whole towns of non-Europeans. No other continent does this stuff to this degree.
