  1. Not defending any of this, of course, but it’s hardly surprising. For a good 5 years now the UK has seen year on year increasing arrivals across the Channel with the government seemingly powerless to do anything about it. The type of people working in these detention centres will be low-skilled, poorly-educated minimum wagers. It only takes a couple (according to the given pecking order) to set the tone and peer-pressure dictates that this tone becomes the norm.
