I genuinely don’t get homophobia. I have many petty prejudices, some rational and some irrational, but hating on someone for whom they’re dating isn’t one of them. For one thing, no one consciously chooses who they fancy, but even if it were a conscious decision, it still wouldn’t bother me one iota a man getting with another consenting man or a woman getting with another consenting woman. What I resent is other people being able to dictate by law what another must do or not do in this matter. I always think in these cases: How would the lawmakers/homophobes like it if they were told with whom they could or couldn’t get? I don’t think they would like it at all and they’d be right not to like it. To me, being homophobic is as pointless, irrational and stupid as feeling resentful of someone for digging Uranus because you’re not an astronomer.

What’s confusing me about all this is why does someone feel they have the right to tell me with whom I can or can’t sleep, but it doesn’t seem to work the other way and I can’t order them (on pain of imprisonment or worse) to sleep with whom I decide? At the very least, that’s just plain rude; at worst, it’s outright fascist. 🤔

What I’ve never quite understood about war and humanity is this: if every single human being refused to be conscripted into any army/military role, then we could end this mass killing of each other overnight. At least in the hand-to-hand combat level. The issue I haven’t quite worked out yet is how we can prevent states/nations from manufacturing and delivering weapons, even without actual combat soldiers. 🤔

Just for the record though, since you bring it up: if those 2 people who were about to commit incest were both consenting, I personally would have no problem with this, so long as they weren’t producing offspring.
