@0:20 Let it never be forgotten that in all the talk of brutality around the world in terms of war, it is America and America only who has used these barbaric atomic weapons in anger. And what makes their hideous crime against humanity even more egregious? They didn’t have to! RIP.

@daniellatham73 The overwhelming historical evidence from American and Japanese archives indicates that Japan would have surrendered that August, even if atomic bombs had not been used — and documents prove that President Truman and his closest advisors knew it. Nice try, though. 👍

@larsbjrnson3101 Yes, they did. Moreover, General Eisenhower is on record as saying that is wasn’t necessary to use the bomb as Japan had been largely ground down and defeated by then. He said it was “no longer mandatory as a measure to save American lives." When the war was over he also said: “It wasn't necessary to hit them with that awful thing." Nice try, though.👍

@kierano8390 It’s not “as simple as”. Far from it. Your comment completely ignores the fact that because of logistics, an invasion of Japan could not begin for another three months, so the U.S. could have waited to see if Japan would surrender before dropping the atomic bombs. There was no urgency or need to do it. Simple as.
