  1. It’s true. Ever since Victoria really, Balmoral has been a keystone in the Royal Family’s living arrangements. Of course, the Queen, but others too. One recalls at the height of the pandemic, Prince Charles isolating there with Covid - 19. Meanwhile, Prince Andrew was isolating at Windsor with Tracy - 16. 🏰

  4. I can. France; Thailand; Mexico; New Zealand; Morocco are just 5 that instantly spring to mind. There are dozens and dozens of other ‘more beautiful’ places than Scotland, and those who claim Scotland the most beautiful place are invariably, in my experience, those who haven’t seen that many other places. Scotland I would describe as mildly attractive. As Dr Johnson said of the Giant’s Causeway, I would equally apply to Scotland: “worth seeing but not worth going to see.” I say all this as a born and bred Scot. If I were not from here it’s only really Edinburgh I would be drawn to, in terms of making the effort. The rest? Not so much.
