  3. In my experience, the vast majority of people in my orbit are pro carefully controlled legal immigration and obviously giving sanctuary to genuine asylum seekers/refugees. The main issue here is simply that a good proportion of the UK population currently thinks (rightly or wrongly) the bulk of these migrants are those seeking illegal entry for economic reasons. Until the government (any government) demonstrates it’s got a grip of those people entering the UK, this animus towards migrants generally, regardless of their true status, will only increase I fear. As someone once said: if liberals don’t enforce borders, fascists will.
