When you think about it most Mexicans are mestizo, mixed natives. It essentially it's the same case with most people the US government calls "Hispanic".

@byzantinehusky9184 Yeah people ignore the fact the Tejanos, were basically their own faction, with their own independence movement. They tend to get written out of history.

@juanantonio7435 Yeah the Spanish appeared a century before British colonization. The British appeared so late, they actually thought the Mississippian Mounds were built by ancient Canaanites/Egyptians. When the Spanish just outright visited and documented them, before they were abandoned.

Yeah I wonder how the hell did this guy write books. When people are correcting him in the comments. More so when the subject is military history, which is his supposed specialty.

@rangergxi Are you speaking from the perspective of Mexico or the US? Because the US government just avoids acknowledging the issue altogether. Partially because some indigenous groups have a presence on both sides of the border. An example being the Lipan Apache of South Texas. Which only got recognized by Texas in 2009. That ended up, creating the issue of how closely related does one have be for recognition? Or if one's ancestors migrated across the river and now they're in the US. Then do you register for recognition in Mexico? It created a lot of personal questions where I live. As most people can trace back ancestry to an indigenous relative.

@jtm726 Sound similar to Texas, in relation to the Tejanos.
