  2. Growing up with my dad in the Royal Navy, my childhood swimming lessons were with the navy themselves. Their teaching methods were bracingly, er, direct. 8 years old, 10 foot deep end, chuck in a rubber brick, "go get the brick" Followed by a 1.5 kilometer endurance swim. Great stuff.
