  1. What I don't get is it's so easy to build affordable Frigates. Just look at the Type 31. Build it big, empty and overpowered (engine wise) Give it good sensors. Done, cheap. If you then need to upgun it, it's easy, lots of spare space, freeboard and power.

  2. As for the Littoral part, I think the solution should have been to go abroad. There are lots of engineering companies and shipwrights in Europe and the UK. That's who you go to for a reliable littoral hull form and pump-jet base.
