Yep. People who fail to keep it brief usually are trying to obfuscate. By way of contrast, see how von Mises or Sowell put their points across. It's as if they're being charged by the word

@jimsackmanbusinesscoaching1344 What the electorate wants is impossible, politicians have to lie. People want free stuff but they also don't want to work more hours

Urban II didn't organise crusades, the people did

Scandinavian countries (not to overly generalise, they are all different) are mixed market economies with tax burdens not wildly dissimilar to countries such as France and Germany. In some aspects, their markets are freer than the US

Yeah he is famous for his rigour in one topic and then magically can't get it right in another, despite the fact that both involve him reading multiple sources and using the same techniques. Hmmmmm

Not really. They have the same end goal but differed on how it could be achieved 'But a long time of developement on the socialist side. Sweden, Norway and Denmark really would want to have a word with you about NOT beeing communist. ' They'd have a word with you about not being socialist too

@TheImperatorKnight I work in a big company, and it's run on socialist lines. No one wants to be more efficient or save money, and the more you slack the more someone else has to come in and help you

@maesterchris2120 Minority government? There have been a few in the UK

I think we need to separate out (to some extent) actual technical democracy from other forms of government which have varying levels of representative rule. For example the UK is nominally a monarchy, and technically an oligarchy, although supposedly a broad and representative one. All the preceding is up for debate of course

@sedargames8161 '19th century empires were capitalist empires and produced a socialist opposition' WW1 was about a nationalist opposition to imperialism, not socialist. So much so that several states were carved out of former empires because that's what their people wanted. No one cared about internationalism, most people supported the war

Not only that but some German units had more Russians in them than front line German infantry
