How far are they from the enemy who's across the large natural barrier of the river? We have a saying in the military, "terrain dictates".. it dictates everything we do.. you're obviously not going to light up a cigarette if the enemy is 50 m away.. but if you have a weapon that reaches out 3 km, you have quite a bit of breathing room.. It's been my experience that about 98% of people in a war zone are either smokers, or just became smokers.. And when we can't smoke cigarettes, we chew tobacco.. caffeine and nicotine are your friend in a war zone.
