The pressure on his back while in the prone position prevented his diaphragm from moving so he couldn't inhale. d. The cause of death is consistent with what we see on the video. 2. Dr. Wilson a. Cause of Death: Asphyxia due to neck and back compression led to a lack of blood flow to the brain. b. Mechanical asphyxia defined as a physical force that interferes with breathing or the delivery of oxygen to the organs. In this case, the physical force was neck and chest compression. c.
