  2. The ear judges direction from the relative delay. The delay between the ears tells the azimuth direction. A reflection from a large object or corner dominates a direct signal and your perception of direction will be in the direction of the reflecting object. Another factor is the doppler frequency shift effect of a moving sound source and it can be confusing. In short, delays are used but reflections can cause apparently confusing conclusions.
