@bigmekboy175 just like McNamara had them draft low IQ males into the infantry during Vietnam, we've been running out of young men who want to rush to die in conventional war ever since living standards shot up so radically last century. Who wants to die violently in battle at 18 knowing they could live, and live well, healthy, very much into their old age, that they might be the first generation to reverse the aging process and cheat death? It isn't a peculiarly Russian issue, its a very human response to the changes during the 20th century. "The West" can't patch cracks like that with immigration, not without a flood becoming a torrent. We need to have marshalled control of reproduction, even if that means by increasing it for a decade here and there.
You know why Britain and other industrialised nations flocked to the banners in 1914? For many, perhaps most, life was very unpleasant, even compared to the horrors of war. Even with the loss of so many young men in both wars we had an unprecedented baby boom after 1945... Infant mortality wasn't 50% anymore (it was still around 50% between the dawn of man and 1900) so people dialled down the number of children they bore, aided by the green revolution, easy contraception and the concomitant sexual revolution. That's the West, it's Japan, it's China, next will be India, everywhere outside of Africa (and it'll catch on there too) will drop to 1, 1.2 children per female, its not extinction, its just a readjustment. Also, they aren't calling up women yet, in a post industrial world how many men will really be necessary? God, this is such a huge topic, take a breath, but look at it this way, they opened up the floodgates and Ukraine's population fled West, never to return (nobody will go back), sensibly they had to stop males from doing this but how many have just left, irrespectively? How many are just going to stay on once they realise their women have gone, skewing their population's gender balance over a cliff?
