  2. @@schakrei a well telegraphed offensive which relies on buildups of armour better served for use elsewhere which is doomed to be defeated by an opponent who has suspended offensive operations and dug in ready.

Zelenskiy has said the reason for throwing so much resource into Bakhmut is that they dont dont want Russia making political hay from the loss...thats it.. no talk of military value or what, nope, just PR. You might say, typical from a TV actor but to me it seems a little bit crass, even the Russians point to it as railway hub etc, the lynchpin of Donbas. If I'd list someone there for what Zelenskiy said was a PR stunt, id be even more hurt. If we're talking about parallels, imagine if Hitler had said "Stalingrad? Yeah, well, it's named after that arsehole, isn't that a good enough reason?"
