@ConCon75 America came out of the war as the workshop of the world, the most powerful nation on earth. The Soviet Union came bombed to the stone age, with half of Europe to rebuild while having an economy heavily skewed towards heavy military production, tanks aeroplanes and the like. I can't help wonder what would have happened if the USA had to rebuild vast amounts of the industrial heartlands if the rust belt had been moved past the Colorado River, if New York had been starved half to death, etc.

@doctorx1924 I do okay for myself and my family but I still long for a Socialist future, just because someone does well out of a system doesn't mean they have to like how it treats everyone. Arguing that liberal capitalism is the end of history ignores all the changes evolutionary and revolutionary which humans have put in place over the millennia. We should always be looking to improve things.
