  1. Why not deploy them? There arent many, like the F22 its become a project without a purpose (remember that no new F22s are being made or even CAN be made as the production facilities are dismantled and destroyed to prevent espionage)

  3. Anyone who has done the reading will tell you that, likewise, Russian SAM weapons can wipe out F16s and the West is understandably reluctant to allow many to be downed due to the A. Cost and B. Tarnish to reputation. The British have already ordered remaining Challenger 2 tanks off the front line after 1 was lost to enemy fire, removing the invincibility mythos surrounding each nation's hardware until rubber meets road (meets warhead). You know why so many tanks are being lost to modern and semi-modern weapons? Firepower beats armour, even concentrated small arms fire can damage gunner/commander sights, cheap mines can snap a differential or blow a track forcing the crew out and the weapon useless. Bundles of grenades, IEDs consisting of mortar and other artillery shells buried slightly underground, all of these can ruin the image of 10-12 million dollar pieces of kit, bit so can a delay because of fuel shortages when soft skinned trucks are blown up by artillery or aircraft throwing unguided munitions at arterial roads (rendering them temporarily, but critically, unusable).
