  2. Regarding a hostage deal... Why are none of the brokers, and in particular the US, willing to flip the script? Hamas says it will only negotiate the release of the hostages if Israel completely withdraws from Gaza. Why not insist that Hamas first free all the hostages, and then Israel will fully withdraw? I'll tell you why: Because Hamas doesn't intend to ever release all the hostages. And everyone knows it. Those hostages are the only real leverage Hamas has left. So in the face of the terrorists' intransigence, the West pressures Israel to surrender to them. Because the West needs this thing to go away for the sake of domestic politics. The security of Israeli citizens is a distant secondary concern.
