  1. Russia has already made military incursions into Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine under the pretext of "protecting compatriots", and operate bases within them. This is well within Russian military doctrine, and within Kremlin philosophy of "spheres of privileged interest". During the Soviet occupation of Lithuania the country was subject to Russian immigration. There is now a sizable Russian minority in Lithuania. Lithuania is therefore a potential victim of Russian military aggression. The book is sadly a useful read when you happen to live next to a 19th century empire.
