  3.  @Phil_AKA_ThundyUK  Fair enough. I think Typhoon will be lent on heavily to develop Tempest though. We've already just seen a contract for Typhoon radar development that will be the basis for Tempest radar. With that I think your as likely to see early F35s cuts as late Typhoons.

  6.  @christopherdickinson9265  there's no reason to stop them being a jointly run force. We might need them all for the carrier at times but that doesn't mean there won't be times it better to deploy from a land base. I don't see what we'd gain giving up that flexibility?

  8. Not carrier capable, not stealthy. Maybe they could compete for the Typhoons job, they simply can't do the F35s.

  11.  @staytactical1045  the type 45 was joint project that split, the development on PAAMS was joint.

  12.  @staytactical1045  we did split because of differences but after much of the work was done together. The CMS and missiles are the same as the horizon class. Those were developed together.

  16. The F35 is a compromise jet pulled between variants and the UK will have experience with it and many more years of development. It'll be pretty easy for the UK to exceed it.

  18.  @Phil_AKA_ThundyUK  there no sign of them being used in that role, nor are they well suited to it. We'd pull Typhoons from there offensive roles before using F35s.

  22.  @OffordDarcy  it's a talking shop but that's not meaningless. It has no hard power but neither does the UN because of vetoes. The UK influence is a fraction of what it had in 1945. But a fraction of that is still large. Calling it a pygmy just shows your biased.
