New F35s fly over to the UK with refueling aircraft, they don't need picking up.

@splatoonistproductions5345 so there aren't specific QE and PoW F35s, they will fly from either as appropriate, or from land as they are shared with the RAF. Currently we only have twenty odd, so though they have flown from PoW it's not been common as QE has been deployed. One thing to note which might be relevant is there are specific test versions in the US with extra instrumentation so the carriers may head over to take advantage of them. Technically 3 of those are ours but in practice it's just a communal pool.

@splatoonistproductions5345 It is a choice, partly its about money but it also about continually buying jets so you don't get all of them getting old at the same time and on the production side you want to be building constantly not building loads and then none. We aren't simply buying F35s we are part of the production, the lift fan for example is built by Rolls Royce.

Regardless of whether the UK should have gone for catapults the F35B is great for the countries that otherwise would never have had fixed wing carriers and greatly expands US capabilities through USMC ships.

@JammyDodger45 the B is inferior but not far inferior. Running the same stealth, sensors and networking that makes the F35 impressive. And it's interopable with Italy and USMC ships, as well as Joan and South Korea to come maybe more.

@JammyDodger45 you didn't say anything of substance there. Of course being worse isn't a plus, I said the F35B is inferior. And carrier or not the substance they fly F35Bs.

In essence it was, 2 carriers was about cover rather deploying 2 at once.

There are a load of RN priorities ahead of a third carrier including things like jets and escorts that a third carrier would need even more of.
