The same as what? Russia travel near the UK all the time. And Turkey is an ally.

@matthewbaynham6286 Typhoon is flying until Tempest replaces it. The F35 will never be alone.

@matthewbaynham6286 the remainder will follow soon because? I'm presuming so you can moan? Tranche 1 aren't worn out they are just not worth the upgrade and still they'll be about 20 years when retiring. Our youngest Tornado retired in 2019 was 26 years old and Germany are running there's to 2030, USs F15C are averaging about 35 years old. So given our last Typhoon was delivered in 2019, by Tornados 26 year standard I'd be 2045 they retire but could easily be stretched another decade by others standards.

Brett Mitchell US carriers do have some advantages and the US can afford them. A reduction rather than elimination is likely better. 6 Ford, 8 QE would give greater numbers while still being cheaper.

@matthewbaynham6286 15-20 years is the planned timeline. It was already going when announced in 2018 and the aim is 2035. What confusing is why you think Typhoon will be gone before it arrives, we've only recently got our latest jets and a major radar upgrade program is still a few years away.

@kissifferbritannica5357 The car guy is just troll, posts the same thing about nuclear carriers on every video which would be fine if annoying but then goes on about people being trolls if they mention the slightest disagreement. He's not worthy of respect.

@roguedrones 1921, the maximum extent of the British Empire, largest navy in the world. What do you need to be a superpower?
2
@roguedrones total tangent! Why do you think I'd be a minority. Majority of London is British like me. Is it because I'm Yorkshire, it'd be a bit weird if the majority of London was Yorkshire.
2
@roguedrones A tangent as it has nothing to do with British power a hundred year ago, the topic we were talking about. But on your point skin colour is irrelevant.

A fifth of a carrier, 1 SSBN, 1 SSN, 5 destroyers, 5 frigates. Scary.

Thanks, I hope Five powers is the basis for closer ties and views closer to issue are welcome.
1
The fact that we have a carrier group 10000 km away is a pretty classic Global power thing. Power deployed globally.
1
Where was the lack of fighter aircraft in the withdrawal?
1
linkzable making a ballistic missile hit an unpredictable moving target is a real issue, the US certainly couldnt do it in the 70s when it was first landing on Mars.
1
@gazza7uk646 the UK has a significantly bigger GDP than Russia.
1
@MetaView7 today's warfare is against lesser countries. Nuclear Armageddon is what's against big boys.
1
You protect what you have, 10s of Billions isn't miniscule.
1
Your talking about China taking Taiwan and also complaining about fear mongering, which one is it?
1
@MetaView7 carriers are Air force warfare but without a sitting duck of an air base.
1
@MetaView7 a 500+ (not 400) mile range is good for attacking things within 500 miles of the carrier. You are living in WW2 if you think rounds is relevant. Don't why you think 65,000 tonnes is tiny. The UK isn't a giant, against a giant we aren't going to be attacking we are going to be defending.

100 years ago we were a super power.
