@oliverorchard2296 Guilt? Nothing to do with me, I wasn't alive then. But to feel pride in the horrible things our wealthy ruling class did to ordinary men, women and children here in England and around the world is a strange thing to want. What we can feel pride in is what the working class achieved, such as democracy, the National Health Service and trade union rights.

@alphabeta9594 Given that the OP was writing about supporting "homeland, heritage and our ancestors", those would be the British ones that we are being urged to feel proud of. I love British people, but I've not much love for our blood-spattered history nor for the ruling class that created it.
