  1. I'm imagining how autumnal your cabin smells! I like to make mincemeat about this time (with enough brandy to preserve it) and store it until Thanksgiving and Christmas for those holiday pies. I just love that you use heart shapes for your pastries.

  2.  @TheMtggrl  Suet is beef fat. If you make your own mincemeat filling, you can ask the butcher at your supermarket for suet. You can store what's unused in the freezer.
