Murray is a mighty brave man.

How would you feel if you considered yourself to be a bona fide British citizen and this was effectively forced upon you?

@sillygoose9070 I mean no disrespect, genuinely, but I'm not sure you do. Lots of NI Unionists 'feel' British as, I'm sure, you likely do. Someone telling you, not least another British person, that you shouldn't because it's inconvenient to you is a mighty bitter pill to swallow.

@sillygoose9070 True, but the GFA was a long grass agreement designed to recognize and ease that very inevitability over time. At the end of the day NI is a political mess of the UK's own making, albeit not with malice aforethought. It was, at its heart, a misjudged political fudge that went wrong, but that doesn't mean that Unionists there should summarily be thrown under the bus by the rest of us.

@sillygoose9070 For what it's worth I feel your pain and I know exactly what you mean more generally.. I speak to others who feel the way you do. It just annoys me how the GFA and its central principle of consent is continually held up as being sacrosanct when it so obviously isn't being honoured and has been weaponised by Irish Republicans, the EU and the US. And that's nevermind the UK government's quiet betrayal of people who are still legally recognized citizens of the UK. Something also enshrined in that agreement. NI, on current form, will ultimately become part of Ireland again one day I agree, but it has to be achieved with the democratic majority consent of the NI people whatever their background.
