They have crazy reserves of artillery shells. Not so sure about the barrels, though. They become useless after firing a few thousand shots (some even after a few hundred). So the crazy artillery fire might slow down. It all depends on whether it happens before or after they push through.

Except that they lost many soldiers (some were elite paratroopers) and a lot of equipment there. Also, the "feint" lasted for more than a month and helped the Western countries to change their minds about sending heavier weapons and otherwise supporting Ukraine.

@insider9983 What about Chernyhiv, Sumy? Also a clever move? And their positions around Kharkiv would be very useful right now, but somehow they left most of them too.

Probably not this year, though. It's going too slow, and Ukraine has time to receive more and more support. I don't think their resistance would crumble after losing Donbas.

@Georgikk Dream on, while you're not fighting yourself. I don't think soldiers on the front or their generals have such illusions. They'll have to get to Slaviansk first 😆

The actual feint was going in on many fronts and expect Ukrainians to get scared and capitulate, maybe arrest the government in Kyiv or cause them to flee, so that they can install their puppet government before the West seriously reacts. If successful, Russia would not have gotten so many sanctions (the strong ones started coming in only after a few days when they saw that Kyiv is not falling), no unified resistance of conventional army, and definitely no strong military support for Ukraine from the West, since there would be no government to send it to. That failed, and conventional war had to start. We'll see how it goes. How many deaths on either side will be enough for one of them to stop?
