  1. Powerful corporations responsible for most global emissions aren't poor. The Western world that emits a disproportionate amount of the global waste, emissions and pollution are affluent and experience high standards of living. So the thesis that eradicating poverty would protect the climate per se, isn't true. But I agree that some high-risk activities and short-sighted gain that many poor individuals are committing without concern for the environment, would cease or minimize if handling absolute/relative poverty weren't on the agenda.
