  1. Bolsonaro has gone towards the unhinged direction. Blindly following USA, Trump and the US constitution. Rejecting climate change, dismissing the pandemic as a little influenza virus, and easing the gun laws instead of countering the violence by force. Bolsonaro's traditionalism and anti-communist platform used to be good, but he's went off the rails lately. You don't crush gangs, cartels and gangster violence by arming these entities and random citizens. Vigilantism isn't the answer, stronger authorities is.

  2. It doesn't, unless you implement very strict gun laws with tough controls, surveillance and background checks/training programs, sort of like in Switzerland. Even so, you won't counter the core of the issue, a high homicide and crime rate committed by certain groups of people in lawless areas. What works would be to send in an increased presence of military troops or police officers to erase the violence, to act proactively with social programs to catch those wandering down the wrong road, and to prohibit cultural elements that fuels wrongdoing.
