  1. I'm not a big fan of Russia. But I despise many of the arbitrary and restrictive international treaties, "laws", declarations and conventions. So I can see why a sovereign country wishes to let their own jurisdiction take precedence. You can't remove threats and dangerous actors ASAP while blindly adhering to international law and "human rights".

  2. Russia is quite authoritarian and are good friends with most of Asia, including China. So this isn't surprising at all.
