@Robert_H. "The Green Youth in Germany has nothing against nuclear power. The problem is, we don't have a nuclear repository solution in Germany" That's a minor issue. Temporary storage is fairly unproblematic. "renewable energies produce so much cheaper electricity in Germany than nuclear power plants that it makes no sense at all to continue to rely on them in Germany." I disagree when it comes to the existing plants in Germany. Nuclear fuel is cheap and nuclear plants are cheap to run it makes no economic sense to close them. New nuclear capacity would be expensive due to the high capital cost of nuclear plants. However, when it comes to the existing plants that's a sunk cost and therefore irrelevant. Closing the existing plants was/is a mistake.

@luqman_md "If you did not have yet a nuclear waste how can you be the first country to have solved it ????" Of course Finland has had nuclear waste for a while. The recently completed reactor is 5th in the country. The 4 earlier ones have been operating for many decades.

@noop9k "This is wrong, Renewables don’t produce that much usable energy in Germany." What is wrong? I didn't talk about renewables. Did you mean to reply to someone else?

@kalterverwalter4516 Why not?

@pugdad2555 The downsides of fossil fuels are far greater than a small probability of a meltdown. "If Russia would bomb the nuclear plant in Ukraine, make makers you think another country won’t bomb your country’s plants?" In Finland the new reactor is on the western coast. If Russia troops were to reach that things would already be rather dire. Also, the site already has 2 previous reactors so adding a 3rd one probably doesn't increase the risks of Russian bombardment.
