  2. default means we can't pay on our outstanding loans (in U.S. treasuries). We'd be deadbeats to the world, which would mean economic chaos as treasuries have been a rock-solid investment for eons, the entire global financial system banks on them, which is why we can borrow money for a less than any other country. It would also tank the dollar, which has all sorts of economic repercussions too numerous to name here.

  3. actually the annualized growth in federal spending under Obama is lower than Reagan and all other presidents in between. Our deficit is on the decline and falling at a faster rate than any president since WWII and spending as a percentage of GDP is at lows not seen in decades. Let's not forget, our last president inherited a surplus and turned it into a deficit.

  4. that just might be the most absurd thing I've ever read. Stop trade in the dollar? Right, so we can just stop global trade? If we want to buy oil on the global market or sell grain overseas we'll just go back to the barter system? Or maybe you buy the gold standard myth, which would mean economic chaos as gold would be even easier to manipulate and there isn't enough of it to trade with. stop trading in the dollar = worldwide economic shutdown.

  5. What people don't get is the Republicans WANT us over a cliff. They actually DO want to destroy the Fed Gov't. The libertarian wing wants to roll us back to the 1800s, the Bible wing wants to roll us back to the 1600s and re-make the country with Christian Sharia law. They're opposed to a multi-cultural, tolerant society and think the only safety net should be for corporations.

  6. A clean bill means a bill that just keeps funding the government---with no political garbage attached like ending Obamacare, approving the keystone pipeline or any of the other GOP blackmail demands.
