  1. drug companies are against legalization because people could grow something in their yard that would relieve pain and nausea, etc. without paying a huge amount of money to the pharmaceutical industry. corporate interests had a hand in making marijuana illegal in the first place because hemp had many industrial uses: fibers for rope and clothing, pulp for making paper, seed oil for making paint and industrial lubricants and the seed itself as a high fiber, high-protein animal and human food. The private prison industry is in favor of anything that locks up Americans for any reason.

  2. ***** Like hell it is--there is no comparison between alcohol and marijuana in a medical or an industrial sense. Alcohol does not stimulate the appetite or relieve nausea. If it did, cancer and AIDS patients would be hitting a bar stool instead of a joint. You can't use alcohol to produce industrial fibers, paper pulp, paint or lubricate an engine---but you can with hemp. you simply don't know what you're talking about.
