She was emotionally abused as well by the studio heads who constantly told her she was fat and no one would love her unless she did what they said. Once broken they got her addicted to drugs and controlled her through them. The studios did that to as many actors (male and female) as they could. Studios controlled 100% of their actors lives. Who they would work with, when they worked, where they lived, what they wore, when to get married, when to have or not have kids. It was nothing short of slavery. Judy was a cash cow till the drugs took their toll and then they abandoned her. Shortly after that the whole contract system was abolished. She never recovered.
