  1. It’s important to know your history and see yourself represented. However, kids in school know more Black history than they do about this countries (USA). When my child comes home and knows about MLK but asks who George Washington is there is something wrong. 2 weeks on the American revolution, 30 days on MLK.

  2. mjamitche5 - more then Likely your neighbors where doing that because it was the right thing to do not because of MLK. And G.W. Did free his country. Which makes my point. You know more about the actions of 1 man than the one who fought a king. If captured it would mean a death sentence for treason. MLK came at a time when this country needed change. I’m not denying that. Many Black people worked hard as well, not denying them either. I learned more about blacks and what they contributed to history when the schools taught about George Washington for maybe 2 weeks then, my child does now with a whole month dedicated to black history month. Why cause the schools wanted to focus on MLK.

  3. willsb19 -already knows. We move a lot and I have to say there really is no good school system. The politics in schools systems is awful.
