When the 1st movie came out, yes, we did think that was J.E.J.. He looked to be the right size and build and we knew the voice couldn’t be heard through the mask so he had to dub over his lines. The movie credits though said someone else and there was no credit for J.E.J. So we were a bit confused. It was thought that he didn’t want to use his real name if the movie tanked. After all he had a successful career as a serious actor and did t want it ruined by a science fiction movie. The 2nd movie and again no mention it was him. J.E.J. Did not talk about being in the movie during interviews. 3rd movie - only at the end did his name appear as the voice and the audience went nuts, in a good way, that he finally got the credit. Rumor has it that J.E.J. Felt sorry for the actor who played Vader and thought it a one time thing. The movie was a stand alone movie so he didn’t want his name on it. Let the actor take the credit. Back then a sequel to a movie was in heard of let a lone a space cowboy movie. The 2nd movie and the contract was signed so again no credit. It wasn’t till the 3rd movie that everyone renegotiated their contracts that he asked for credit.

Dorian Grey - I did. I also saw it in the Theater the first month it was out as a kid. J.E.J. Was very well known as an actor and that voice. So yes people did think it was him and a different name was in the credits in case the movie tanked. No one saw his face so he could deny it was him. Cause that’s what actors do if a movie is bad.
