I'm not understanding this story because the news said they have red flag laws there. Well the FBI or some law enforcement agency already had him on their radar for repeated incidents, one including threating to commit suicide, so why the fuck was he able to get a gun? I'm on the fence about red flag laws but I think when someone has a history of acting highly erratic and making violent threats to others and himself, he should not be allowed to go buy a gun as easily as anyone else. He should have a thorough mental evaluation and have no run ins w/police for at least 5 years or more after incidents such as what he had going on.
