Yes, I also live in the desert and am trying to garden in pots and a hydroponics system for now.

He had a place w/his wife in the Netherlands but it seems they separated. What's the point of him buying his own property in the states when he has room to live with his family and he helps create and maintain this huge garden which is beneficial for all?

I've barely begun too, after trying years ago, but find out what zone you're in first and maybe buy one of the Farmer's Almanacs like I have. Buy some heirloom seeds of your favorite veggies or greens and make sure to plant them only in the timeline for your zone. There are many great gardening channels on YT that I've found that help you learn the basics in small bites at a time. Check out Epic Gardening, The Millennial Gardener, The Gardening Channel with James Prigioni, and Next Level Gardening. Start small and probably start in some pots first because then you can move them around if they're getting too much sun or too little sun and you may need to shade them more if you live in really hot climates like I do. I live in the desert so I have to grow everything in raised beds or pots as the soil out here is unsuitable for growing most plants, or get a hydroponics system. I bought one of those small Aerogardens to keep indoors for growing herbs. That's the easiest one to get the hang of. My basil and parsley and oregano have exploded in there. I'm currently growing golden potatoes and some pepper plants outside.
