We're talking about how in America there are uniquely talented, self-educated individuals who either grew up here and pushed themselves super hard or they moved here from elsewhere and brought their genius with them.

It's not even worth trying to invade Finland under current circumstances, unless Russia regroups it army over the next 5 years. Maybe one day Russia would make the gamble.

I'm mostly socially libertarian, I believe in capitalism that is regulated intelligently to benefit the lower and middle classes, I believe in balancing high economic growth and low pollution, and I am hawkish and internationalist. Where do I belong? Am I really asking for something impossible from policy-makers?

  26. Very interesting to cover the emotional cost of war. Of course you have to kill the invader, but even going through that experience of mowing down the enemy in droves is traumatic. Some Finns, even some of my relatives, committed suicide after the war probably because it was so hard to bear the memory of mowing down hundreds of advancing Soviets/Russians with their machine guns. Today, I fear that a generation of Ukrainian soldiers, even though they may survive and maintain Ukrainian independence, will for the rest of their lives suffer from the trauma of killing so many of their neighbors, even though it is the right thing to do simply to protect your country.
