@ChillpointNews It may feel that way today, but I hope that you can hear JD in his message that it does get better. Please check out the resources we've put together on the TED blog. I had the privilege of meeting JD last week, and eight years after his attempt (today), he is as happy to be alive as anyone I've ever met. He is passionate about bringing his message and support to those in the same dark place that he was. Please don't be afraid to seek out help.

Hi everyone. Thanks for your lovely comments! A few here seem to find the subtitles distracting. Fortunately, they're easy to turn off! Press the "up" arrow in the bottom right-hand corner of the video player, then click the "CC" button in the menu. Poof! We'd prefer to keep the subtitles as an option so the deaf community can enjoy this talk, too. :-)

@SEThatered Glad you noticed! We've been working on this fix for a while, was actually more difficult than one would have imagined. Had to do with filters and compression and not having the original source file...

@ChillpointNews I'm passing this link to our editorial team now, we'll be adding it to the blog post. It's awful that the help you've received thus far hasn't been supportive or even adequate, but please don't give up hope for better. There are many resources out there, and if you seek it out, the right help and support will show you how much better it can get.
