  1. +Charles Wilson Strong in relation to what? Back in 1971 $1 bought 1/35th of an ounce of gold and now it buys 1/1257th of an ounce of gold. Sterling used to buy 1/12.5th of an ounce of gold and now it buys 1/1011th of an ounce. All fiat currencies are sinking and some are sinking faster than others.

  5. +Charles Wilson I guess you do not understand fractions? So today you have to split one ounce of gold into 1257 equal pieces and $1 will get you one of those tiny pieces. Back in 1971 you only needed to split the ounce into 35 pieces and $1 would get you one of those pieces. I would say the dollar could get a much bigger piece in 1971 than it gets now.

  10. +lenogooch The euro area has actually been running a trade surplus for the last few years but my guess is that all fiat currencies' (euro included) purchasing power will continue to evaporate.
