Why not start with making any unemployed, able-bodied Brit sign up instead, given they're the people we actually spend the most money on? Immigrants bring in far more money, per capita, to the economy than native Brits do.

Defence isn't just about manning physical borders from attack, but also about keeping the fight 'over there'. Fighting wars on foreign soil is far more preferable to having to fight them on or near UK soil.

@tigerland4328 what threat are we likely to face alone with more military punch than us? Russia? Not alone. China? Not alone. Argentina? Hardly a threat. It's like people forget that European defence is resourced and managed around the concept of collective defence from NATO. If you factor in the surface fleets of all other NATO members, we are part of the largest maritime military force on the planet.
