Everyone was so glad that after demonizing the Belt & Road Initiative for 20 years the U.S. government under Joe Biden boastfully announced in 2021 its own attempt to help Third World countries with the beautifully named Build Back Better World (B3W) with an out-of-this-world $4 trillion contribution and the G7 at the U.S. urging chipped in with its own €300 billion Global Gateway for the Global South. Now, everybody became so disillusioned to the point of utter disappointment that not a single American official and not a single American politician from either the Democrat Party or the GOP mentions the $4 trillion B3W initiative ever again in 2022 and 2023. And the same is true with the Europeans. And Joe Biden went out of his way when he convened the U.S.-Africa Leaders' Summit in Washington DC and tried to bribe the African leaders with $55 billion to 55 African countries -- over 3 years PLUS pending U.S. congressional approval. No wonder Africa gave special envoy Janet Yellen (in lieu of Antony Blinken) a cold reception and balked at America's sweet talks when they compared the $55 billion promise of aid to the illusory $4 trillion B3W pledge. A feeling of joy engulfs one's soul when the U.S. runs around trying to salvage its tattered image among the nations that used to unquestionably worship the American leadership for over half a century. Such is the sorry state of a once powerful empire the world rejects when it pursues its own selfish interests with the slogans "Make America Great Again" and "America First" -- with no regard to the welfare of other countries, including that of its own proclaimed allies and friends.
