The Lend Lease program basically transferred the wealth of the British Empire to the USA.

Zero musical output, but managed to sell quite a bit of noise.

@kemarisite Since you bring up aircraft, it is possible for certain jet fighters to shoot themselves down by firing the guns and then flying in a vertical arc at a speed faster than the shells travel.

There is some evidence that the Japanese were not that far from developing atomic weapons, but the full story will likely never be known as they went on a records destroying spree and all the people involved are no longer alive. As compensation for all the earthquakes, the Japanese have lots of hot springs to bath in (the two are geologically related).

@ar4040smith Columbia was considered for the name of your state, but was rejected due to possible confusion with the federal capital district. We see how well that worked out.

A 22-caliber gun with a maximum range of less than 16,000 yards would not be an effective naval weapon (other than on a monitor for shore bombardment). Plus the German siege guns can be defeated by using one tank as a launch ramp for another tank, and the airborne tank fires into the barrel of the siege gun while on the downward arc. 😉

I like to argue that the Iowa class are actually battlecruisers.

@johnshepherd8687 The main belt armor design thicknesses are 12.1-inch and 16.1-inch for the Iowa and Montana, respectively. I do not have an armor penetration resistance chart at hand, but a one-third increase in thickness is substantial.

@johnshepherd8687 Did you consider that the Montana main armor belt would have been inclined at 19°?

@muskyelondragon - Drach did some videos on building ships in this game a couple of years ago.

@jakemillar649 Uchū Senkan Yamato obviously had the best balance between speed, protection, and firepower. 😉

Explosives would typically be in the 60 to 100 pounds per cubic foot (pcf) range, while iron has a density of about 490 pcf.

@johnbuchman4854 Beer rings? Did you mean Irn Bru rings?

Is there a HMS Bullen in Azur Lane? An image search did not turn up anything.
1
@cmedeir I see a "Universal Bulin" and a "Trial Bulin MkII" in the Azur Lane Wiki.

@AdamMGTF The most obvious circumstantial evidence is the cargo of uranium oxide U-234 was carrying to Japan, but ended up in Little Boy since Kapitänleutnant Fehler turned the submarine and its cargo over to the USA when he learned of Germany's surrender. Other than that, it is leaks about still classified material. Off-topic, but Mt. Fuji is at the intersection of three continental plates; having three plates accounts for much of Japan's unusual geology.

Ryan Szimanski tells us that with polymer additives to the powder, barrel life of the Mark 7 guns was extended from about 300 rounds to 1500 rounds. The biggest reason to keep the Iowa class as museum ships is that so much of the ships will have issues due to metal fatigue and stress corrosion that it would be less expensive to build a new one with modern systems.

April 14/15 was previously mentioned. Libby will be busy keeping the peace between Ryan and Drach (j/k 😉).
