  1. I would have put a used engine in. One of those 50,000 ones from Japan with the strict emissions control to make sure the engines aren't like this. Also, why didn't you just pull the spark plugs and looked at the cylinder walls and turned the crank by hand to look around instead of the work of removing the head?
